Over 15 years ago, I was privileged to study under the infamous Dr. Ellis. I was recently in a discussion about why “bad” things and feelings happen, when I remember what Dr. Ellis proclaimed in one of our practice counseling sessions: “Who ever promised you a rose garden?” Along with the sunshine, there has to be a little rain. Along with roses come thorns. It’s natural. In the book TRANQUILITY by David Baird, he states this quote:
“Tranquility comes as one masters understanding of the forces of nature and the world. The four seasons, the seas and their tides, the winds, and the transience of nature, growth, decay. Life in turmoil fights against these but once understood they are forces to be used.” Tranquility is reached by overcoming fear.
Tranquility is about being natural, it’s about being yourself in all that you do.
